Outline
This cross-curricular drama scheme uses a poem as its starting point and offers opportunities to explore issues of exclusion, prejudice, victimisation and group hatred through a range of drama strategies. The scheme makes use of:
  • movement
  • shape
  • sound
  • language
  • role
as pupils examine the key issues from within an imagined narrative.

This resource encourages groups and individuals to discuss key issues, and evaluate alternative responses. Writing -in-role and drawing-in-role strategies give learners additional opportunities to engage with both victims and perpetrators of violence.

  • Symbolisation exercises
The scheme includes a series of practical steps and provides detailed guidance for teachers on how each strategy can be applied. Although the scheme is based around process drama strategies the work also includes theatre, dance, visual art, literacy and PSHE education.
