| Outline Offside is a 4-part video series from the BBC online Learning Zone, which explores issues of accountability, racism, loyalty, racist language and honesty. It is set against the background of racial tension in towns in Northern England in the early part of this century and deals with racism between a group of footballers and the community they live in. The resource provides the stimulus for rich discussion and questioning on a variety of sensitive and contentious issues. The biggest question to be faced is whether the context in which we use language defines its meaning or whether the use of certain words is always offensive.
