| Outline TIDE~ global learning... a network of teachers and educators coming together to respond to the educational challenges of global dimensions, development perspectives and human rights principles. TIDE~ recognises schools as being key sites to develop 'meaningful relationships with and positive perceptions of, all sections of society' (TIDE 2003). This website offers a range of resources to support teaching in the area of both community cohesion and the prevention of violent extremism. In particular, Tide talk~ journal contains of a variety of articles by teachers and other educators sharing their experiences and stimulating critical dialogue about quality global learning. These free online articles give access to a range of content that would underpin the planning of activities around a variety of controversial issues. This section is updated regularly and would form a good focus for work in primary classrooms. Other resource opportunities offered to teachers include Teacher CPD, publications and curriculum projects. The resources Start with a story and A different story are particularly useful using story as a starting point to explore a range of issues. The resource Citizenship and Muslim perspectives is also particularly useful and is among a range of resources developed by teachers for teachers. Each of these publications provides links to planning within The Primary National Framework for Literacy and gives a clear indication of cross-curricular links that can be made. |
